He may not be as well known as Michael Jackson, though he was born within a few weeks of him, but pitchman Billy Mays has just died also at the age of 50. He was found dead in bed. An autopsy will be performed in an attempt to determine the cause, but it looks like it could be another Natasha Richardson type situation.
He was on a plane whose front tire blew during landing, causing things to fall and hit Billy on the head. He spoke with a local news reporter after the incident saying jovially, "I got a hard head." It was during his sleep that night that he died.
If you'd watched any of his show Pitchmen on Discovery, you might have started to like him as much as I have. So sad.
Rest In Peace.

The coffin will be lowered with a specially-built Gopher.

R.I.P.
According to the coroner, the autopsy revealed no signs of head trauma, but he did have hypertensive heart disease, and that was likely the cause of his death. I guess it kind of makes you feel better that the cause was natural and not the result of a stupid bump on the noggin.
Yeah, it is weird, but I felt the same way when I heard that news. It sucks that he died, but like you said, at least it wasn't due to him hitting his head.
I also have become a big Billy Mays fan after getting into Pitchmen on Discovery. I remember when I first saw Billy on TV with his products, I just wish he'd stop shouting at me.
But Pitchmen really grew on me and I saw what Billy was like behind the camera, and he is just a sincere, nice guy who really believed in and stood behind all the products he pitched.
The Oxi-Clean Man will now Oxidize in Peace - OIP Mr. Mays (RIP)
