I agree. I never liked hotness. I like seeing the newly top voted and bumped videos. Also, it is easier to catch up as a VS addict.

Newness would be great if it actually listed videos by newness. Instead it's some mashup bullshit of who fucking knows. Hotness light? I see videos from 1 day ago listed after videos from 3 days ago. There's no sense to it.

Edit. I submitted a video over an hour ago. Went through 12 pages of newness and it isn't there. 12 pages of hotness, not there either. I don't get it.

Newness is listing in order sifted (i.e. got 10 votes and moved to front page). A video that was posted 5 years ago could be the video after one that was posted 5 minutes ago, since it's that 10th vote that matters.

To get the first 1000 most recent videos in order posted, you would need to use search, like this:

All new videos (less then 10 votes posted within last two days) will always be listed on the upcoming(unsifted) video page(which is rarely visited by most sifters). If it receives at least one additional vote within the first six hours of being posted it will also show up on the hotness page(the more votes within that first six hours the higher it will rise on the page). It will stay on the hotness page for a short period of time usually. After it receives 10 votes it will be listed also on the newness page where it will remain for all eternity. This is a general overview on how it seems to work as best as i can figure. Hope it makes some sense.

i always start with the unsifted first because as @eric3579 pointed out,most sifters ignore that que and instead head right to the sifted que.

which means a ton of MY..*cough* i mean 'our" quality,rare and interesting videos fall through the cracks.

so for me its:unsifted>newness>hotness

Yeah, I feel the same. That's why I went for newness. But every time I did it was not sorted right (so I thought). I didn't notice unsifted (maybe because it's called 'upcoming'?), but even with that you still have to change the view order from the default (which includes some special hotness sauce) to actually get the newest queued videos, which I thought I was going to get by clicking 'newness'. The whole thing feels unintuitive, or at least worded badly. Sorry to criticize. There's also a 50/50 chance that I'm just straight up functionally retarded.
