The Moon: Crash Course Astronomy

MilkmanDan says...

Crash Course is awesome. Continuing in the tradition of PBS educational programming, Discovery (before it was all about Bounty Hunters etc.), and History (before it was nonsense about aliens), etc.

Nearly 10 minutes of information that was almost entirely new to me, very entertaining, and *felt* like I was only watching for 2-3 minutes. These guys know their craft!

Benghazi: Explained

MilkmanDan says...

As a person who hates what the news has (d)evolved into, I was one of the people described as "knowing almost nothing about Benghazi" in the video.

This remedied that, in a way that makes me increasingly more appreciative of the Vlogbrothers and all of their projects (Crash Course, etc.) and increasingly more disgusted with the mainstream media.

So kudos to them for showing that non-traditional journalism is often better than modern mega-journalism, without even necessarily trying to be journalism. If that makes any sense.

The Shocking Truth About Electric Animals

MilkmanDan says...

Very interesting and efficient in delivering the information in a short and entertaining span of time.

These brothers (Hank and John Green) are *really* good at this kind of thing. I propose that instead of having public schools, we just mandate that kids watch SciShow and Crash Course clips...

OK, maybe not really, but they sure do a better job of informing / teaching in subjects like Science and History than what I got from frequently-inept teacher/coach combos (who given every benefit of the doubt evidently were hired more for their coaching ability rather than teaching).
