Mom Reads Sexually Explicit School Library Book to Board

vil says...

Poor Cameron. She might let you sink but she wont let you fly.

Dont like the book dont read it. Is it good? Is it bad? Oh it mentions sex? You know what, sex exists! And you know it does after you are at least about 12 or 13 so you certainly should read a book or something. By 18 it might actually be too late.

I have this memory of a beach in England where I was playing with some other kids in the sand and a turn in the coversation suddenly made them ask to see my dick. I pretended not to understand, they asked louder so I ran away from them because they were weird. 10yo kids know dicks exist.

Edit: Its just a book.

There are plenty of people who know enough about economics to intelligently dispute Krugman's (or Keynes') theories. Based on the comments above, I'd guess none of them are posting here.
To be fair, I doubt there are are many economists camping out and beating bongos either. Most of the economic theories held by individual protestors are as unsupported as the ones on the sift. That does not invalidate their general unhappiness with the political system or their desire to see certain measurable inequalities in our economy addressed.

A good question. People in the US need to remember one glaringly obvious fact: socialism, communism, and the like didn't bring the world economy to its knees. The corporatist and capitalist criminals on Wall St. and the beltway did that. I don't know that any one of these economic theories is the solution to our situation but let's be clear: criminals brought us where we are today and not marxists, keynesians, or any of the other usual suspects.

P.S. no one needs a degree in economics to know they're getting ripped off by the 1% and friends, but playing a bongo does take some practice. Have you ever successfully played a hand drum? It's tough. Wait until you try tabla, buddy :-)

HaricotVert jokingly says...

Oh, totally! I mean, in no way do the investment banks and corporate stakeholders bear any responsibility whatsoever for the mortgage and subsequent banking crisis. Absolutely 100% innocent. Completely government-created mess. Yep. No question.
>> ^quantumushroom:

Ah, these Keynesian Klugmans, trying to clean up a government-created mess with more government.

Eh what do you expect? Keynesian economics is doomed to fail, for one simple reason. Throwing money at a problem doesn't work. What surprises me more is that these "99%er's" and ows idiots are promoting the same problem that created the problem. Weee! 100 years of failed keynesian economics comes back to bite the world in the ass, and the solution? More failed keynesian economics.

What I actually said on the post was "Isn't the 'sucking dicks' comment playing off of a negative connotation of homosexuals?" and I said it to illustrate why someone would be offended. I just wanted to have a talk about possibly restructuring the rules, that and I felt like i was sticking up for a fellow sifter. QM takes a lot of abuse around here and I get tired of it sometimes. He's a conservative voice that the sift is rather lacking in.

That being said, I'm sorry for the hobble, it wasn't my intention. I felt like what happened to Westy was unfair and, again, the ultimate goal was a coversation about restructuring the rules a bit. You're absolutley right, there is nothing int he FAQ that qualifies you for a hobble.

Feel free to beat me with a hose when this is all over. -jj

Christopher Hitchens on Christian Morality

JiggaJonson says...

Hitchens gives other religions a very hard time as well. I think the topic of his coversations in the US center around christianity because it makes up the bulk of theology uin the US. "Last year the First Amendment Center released a poll showing 55 per cent of Americans believe the U.S. was founded as a Christian Nation and that Christianity is embedded in the U.S. " - http://communities.canada.com/vancouversun/blogs/thesearch/archive/2008/09/25/the-u-s-is-not-now-and-never-has-been-a-christian-nation.aspx

Not all religion is about loving people or "(in it's truest form) promotes loving others, and focus on something that more resembles evil." It's mostly a simple way to explain complicated ideas. The problem with the simplicity of it all is that it can be construed to suit the purposes of powerful people to control idiots and promote bigotry. (see prop 8 vote)

Growth of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

Tracon says...

the fastest growing church has to be the flying spagetti monster. Were is your flow chart for them. Considering it only started last year, and the rate of adoption by atheists, i would have to say LDS just got there ass's handed to them in the "fastest growing" department. as far as the conversions per hour. FSM has touched millions per hour with his noodleness. So thats 1,000,000 Cph vs 26 million Coversions per what 125 years. Yeah FSM wins in the CPH department. Plus we have pirates and midgets and beer foutains when we die so yeah thats game kids.

Santa Got Run Over By A Reindeer
